BG3 Gauntlet
What is the BG3 Gauntlet?
Valid question! The BG3 Gauntlet is an online competition in celebration of the two year anniversary since the game's release. The Gauntlet is organised and run in collaboration with Faerûn Fêtes and Baldur’s Mouth. The event is going to be hosted on the Faerûn Fêtes discord server with information also posted here on the Baldur's Mouth website.
The BG3 Gauntlet is designed to be completed by teams of four. Anyone is welcome to join either as a complete team or as an individual and you’ll be matched into a team. Sign up will commence on June 8, 2025 and be open until June 15, 2025. Teams will be announced on June 20, 2025 on the discord server and here on the Baldur’s Mouth website. With your party assembled it’s time to get to know your team, come up with a team name, and even come up with any strategies for the tasks ahead.
The BG3 Gauntlet is a set of trials where teams compete with each other. Each trial has various ways to earn points for your team ranging from completing specific tasks, impressing the judges, or winning public favour. Whichever team has the most total points at the end of the Gauntlet will be crowned the winner. Each trial will clearly outline how many points are available and how they can be earned. If you have any questions or require any clarification at any time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of the event organizers.
There are six rounds to the trials:
-
Art Roulette: Gather a d20, take a chance and roll the dice. That roll of the dice will dictate the prompt you will work from. With that prompt you and the team will assign yourself each to one of four individual panel pieces of a comic book strip to draw based on your given prompt.
-
Cosplay Rumble: Your team will come up with a maximum of five BG3 related prompts (i.e. Withers as Miku Miku, Astarion’s spa day, Shadowheart’s Lolita phase, Stoney on their wedding day, etc.). Your prompts will be submitted and randomized with the other team’s prompts. One Team member of your choice will receive one of the randomized prompts and submit a photo of their closet cosplay based on it. The photos will be sent to the other teams for them to try and guess the original prompt. Teams will be awarded points on correct guesses as well if their cosplay was correctly guessed by other teams.
-
Camera Set Go!: In Baldur's Gate 3, as a team in picture mode be creative and complete the prompts. The more challenging the prompt the more points it is worth. Judges will decide if your picture accurately meets the prompt.
-
Trivial Dispute: This is a live event, we will be running it over a couple days in case people can't make it on a specific date, check the schedule to see what dates and time the trivia will take place. It is based on the Um Actually game show so your task is to find the error and correct the statements.
-
Writers Block: Gather a d20, take a chance and roll the dice. Each member will roll a dice and you will get four prompts to work with. With these rolls you’ll attempt to work together to write a cohesive short story in the form of a newspaper article. Maximum of 5,000 words.
-
Honour Run Bash: In Baldur's Gate 3, with crossplay, set your game to Honour Mode, record your gameplay and submit it and see how far you can get in the game working as a team. There are certain tasks you can attempt to get points, the more challenging the task the more points it is worth.
How do we submit our attempts on the trials?
Submissions can be submitted via the google forms when each event is announced. If there are any issues, we do have an email; baldursgategauntlet@gmail.com. Or contact the Faerûn Fêtes or the Baldur’s Mouth Team.
